Find out how to book a stay at Barracks Cottage

Booking A Stay:

Bookings are welcome for a minimum 7 nights (Saturday – Saturday).

We’re sorry we are unable to offer shorter breaks and only offer the option of booking for a week/fortnight etc.
At Christmas and Hogmanay, we may alter the arrival/leave date to a weekday to accommodate seasonal celebrations!

Scottish Government guidelines have underpinned all requirements & recommendations for self-catering protocols, laid out by the Association of Scotland’s Self Caterers, Visit Scotland and others, post both the 2020 & 2021 lockdowns. Having followed Covid-19 industry standards, we developed and maintained the required protocols and were rigorous in our risk assessment, choosing to exceed many specifications (e.g. with the purchase/use of a particularly effective ‘fogger machine’ for disinfecting together with an extensive signed-off cleaning checklist). The health & safety of our visitors will always remain a priority. Whilst BC fire safety has always been addressed with interlinked fire alarms, we have (and in accordance with Scottish Law - implemented 2022) also upgraded our system this year.

As highlighted elsewhere, we would be really grateful if visitors could

  1. bring your own towels (one hand towel will be provided in the bathroom and also one in the kitchen, along with tea-towels)
  2. trundle the appropriate ‘wheelie bin’ to road end/opp school each Tues night, for Wed's collection (details on back of entrance door + in kitchen) and return it when empty. NB Please let us know if this isn’t possible so we can make an alternative arrangement.
  3. note entry and departure times: arr not before 3.30pm & dep by 10.15am.
  4. ensure any refuse for general waste and recycling has been removed to the bins outside before departure (Green bin - general / blue bin - recycling.) For bottles and glass, the bottle bank is on road beside Glenelg football pitch.
  5. for those with dogs, scoop up any garden dog poop and dispose of in general waste bin (there are ‘doggy bags’ or ‘nappy sacks’ in the cottage for this purpose - really important as families without dogs and perhaps young children may be the next visitors!)
  6. try as best possible to leave BC as found.
  7. note cottage information file for this n’ that and laminated copies of ‘Quick tips’ (hanging in kitchen area): for cottage lighting, cooker and microwave / washer-dryer / log burning stove & dishwasher. (There is further information for using the fire pit and more detailed info on disposal of ash etc., from wood burner and fire pit, together with recycling reminder.)
